LifeMiles presents the news of the day.

Guanacasteco will seek to shine in the Asian continent.
Tomas King, a local surfer from Playa Tamarindo, traveled to Taiwan today to compete in the Taiwan Open of Surfing, a QS 3,000-point stop on the World Surf League (WSL).
King comes motivated after finishing in third place in the Philippines and will be looking to add as many points as possible in this penultimate 2019 qualifying stop.

Currently, the national player is ranked #189 in the QS rankings; however, if he performs well on this date, he could end the year in a good position, thus positioning himself for 2020.
According to the schedule of the series presented by the organization, the national team would enter the competition in series # 13 of the third round and will seek from these stages to advance to the next phases of the commitment.

Tomas shared details about this trip with Surfing Republica, and here is the interview.
What are your expectations for this commitment?
“I’m going with high expectations, I feel that I have prepared well, I did well in the last event in the Philippines and I’m going with the same confidence.”
Have you surfed this wave before?
“I’ve never surfed this wave, but I’ve seen it in videos, I’ve looked up information, and I know it’s a peak with both right and left breaks, with plenty of potential for good maneuvers.”

What is your goal for 2020?
“My goal is to be considered for the National Team and represent Costa Rica in the world surfing championships, and with this also have a chance to seek a spot in the Olympic Games. I also hope to start 2020 with a good QS ranking.”
The Taiwan Open of Surfing will take place from November 23rd to 26th and currently has no live stream, but you can find more information at: https://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2019/mqs/3203/taiwan-open-of-surfing
