Costa Rica is now three heats away from the World Surfing Championship final in Japan

Brisa Hennessy advances to the fourth round of the 2019 World Surfing Games.

The second day of competition at the World Surfing Games in Miyazaki, Japan has concluded, and the women's category continues in action.

Costa Ricans Leilani McGonagle, Eva Woodland, and Brisa Hennessy faced competition early Sunday morning, with Eva Woodland and Leilani McGonagle ultimately going through the repechage to try and continue in the event and earn valuable points for Costa Rica.

On the other hand, Brisa Hennessy, from Costa Rica, managed to join the fourth round of the main event and is only three series away from reaching the final in one of the world championships with the largest presence of CT runners.

Hennessy will face Barbados native Chelsea Tuach, Australian Nikki Van Dijk and American Caroline Marks in series #2 of round 4.

The schedule for today, Sunday, is as follows:

Eva Woodland - 6:00 pm North Podium: Repechage 2, Series # 16

Leilani McGonagle - 7:40 pm South podium: Repechage 4, series # 1

Brisa Hennessy- 9:00 pm north podium: Round 4, heat #2
