The organizing committee chose the wave because of the ideal conditions for a good show.
The organizing committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games chose the Tahiti wave in French Polynesia on Thursday to host the surfing events at the Games.
For this to become a reality, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) must now approve the proposal; however, surfing must first be confirmed for the Olympic Games.
If this proposal is approved, places like Biarritz, Lacanau, Hossegor-Seignosse, among others, would be left out of the games.
Furthermore, these would be the first Olympic competitions located in the heart of the Pacific and some 15,700 kilometers from their main venue, Paris.
