Tahití recibirá al surf en los Juegos Olímpicos París 2024

Tahiti will host surfing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee approves Tahiti as the venue for surfing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee endorsed the desire of the Paris Games organizers to bring surfing more than 15,000 kilometers (9,000 miles) away to the island in the Pacific, instead of its Atlantic coastline.

The candidacy had been mentioned for a few months, however, it was definitively confirmed this week, where the support of surfers to choose Tahiti would be fundamental.

According to the International Surfing Association (ISA) in its informational email sent several months ago, the event will feature temporary houses that will be dismantled after the competition to preserve the environmental balance of the paradisiacal place.

The competition venue will be the village of Teahupo'o on the southwest coast of the French Polynesian island.
