The qualifying stop suits the nationals well and improves their QS positions.

In the past few days, one of the most memorable events for women's surfing in the qualifying stops of the World Surf League concluded, we are talking about the Super Girl Pro.
This QS 6,000 pt. stop was contested in the waves of Oceanside, California and featured the best female surfers in the world.

Costa Rica would be present at the event with two athletes and one national who, despite not possessing its nationality, proudly represents our country.
Leilani McGonagle, the national athlete, would achieve her best result of the year with a fifth place finish and 2650 points. Brisa Hennessy, the other national athlete in the ranking, would conclude her performance in 25th place and earn 700 points. The current two-time National Champion, Rubiana Brownell, would finish in 61st place and reach 385 points. Their respective rankings would be modified as follows:
- Leilani McGonagle climbed eleven places and is now in the Top 19 of the QS rankings.

- Brisa Hennessy moved up two places and is now ranked # 30.

- Rubiana Brownell climbed fifty-four positions and advanced to the # 159 spot with only two QS commitments played in this 2019.

"I am very happy to have been able to compete in the Super Girl Pro and obtain valuable points, this will help me with my aspirations to compete in more QS events in a few months and not have to wait any longer," said Rubiana Brownell.

The Costa Rican women will now compete in the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, where McGonagle and Hennessy will race in the Open category and could further improve their positions, while Brownell will do so in the Junior Pro category along with fellow Costa Ricans Eva Woodland and Paulina Summers.
