Surfing Republica - Costa Ricans excel at the US Open Adaptive Surfing Championships in California

Costa Rican para-athletes obtained important positions in the second stop of the world adaptive surfing championship.
Costa Rica faced the second world stop of the world adaptive surfing tour with a total of seven para-athletes.

The Costa Rican representatives traveled to Oceanside Pier, California, United States, covering their own expenses and with the assistance of coaches Ariel Gutiérrez, Maikel Venegas and Helbert Ruiz, and that's how the nationals obtained important results in the US Open Adaptive Surfing Championships.

The national team was present in eight categories and, showing a high level but above all great conviction and motivation, managed to demonstrate that obstacles can be overcome as long as we are willing to move forward in the face of any adversity.
The final results for the Costa Ricans were as follows:
US OPEN ADAPTIVE OF SURFING 2022:
- Roy Calderón, Partial Vision. 1st place.
- Jimena Ruiz, Stand Below Knee Women 2 place.
Junior Upright / Stand 2 place.
- Baldir Vallejos. Stand Below Knee Mens. 3rd place.
- Dariel Meléndez. Above Knee Stand Men's. 4th place.
- Henry Martinez. Blind No Vision Men's. 5th place.
- Matthews Vanderhoogth. Prone Assist Men. 5th place.
- Edwin Ocampo. Unassist Prone Men. 7th place.
