Surfing Republica - Surf City El Salvador ALAS Pro Tour will define the next continental champions

Costa Ricans must finish strong in El Salvador if they want to win the ALAS Pro Tour open, junior and longboard titles.
After the eighth stop of the continental professional surfing circuit, the fight for the title is more than heated, and although in the men's open category Venezuelan José Joaquín López maintains the lead, Panamanian Tao Rodríguez, two Costa Ricans Óscar Urbina and Darshan Antequera and Salvadoran Bryan Pérez are a short distance away in the standings and there is no doubt that in El Salvador a minimal mistake could cost the effort of an entire season.

In the women's category, Costa Rican representative Rubiana Brownell was unable to attend the event in Mexico due to a QS commitment, and Ecuadorian Dominic Barona, who was second place before this eighth leg, took advantage of her absence to snatch first place in the standings with a total score of 4850 points. However, for the women, the El Salvador leg will not directly determine the next continental champion. That said, if Barona performs well and Brownell doesn't, the title could be looking more likely for the South American, with one final stop remaining in Chile, the Arica Latin Girls, a prime event that could be crucial in determining the next continental champion.

The junior surfers will have to seek the championship in Las Flores, El Salvador: the Peruvians, Alejandro Bernales and Manuel Brenes, a Mexican Mateo Cadenas and Nadav Attar and Axel Castro, representatives for Costa Rica, complete the top 5 of athletes in the ranking who could fight for the ALAS Pro Tour 2022 title.

American Nelson Ahina remains in the lead in the longboard category, however, Mexican Luis Sánchez, Brazilian Antonio Vitor, American Micah Desoto and Mexican Heriberto Torres are very close and could take the title from the American.
The Surf City El Salvador ALAS Pro Tour 2022 will take place from November 23 to 26, and the waves of Las Flores will be where the next champions will be defined, at least definitively, in the men's open, junior, and longboard categories.
