Surfing Republica - The semifinalists of the Surf City El Salvador Pro 2022 are defined



The final rounds of the Surf City El Salvador Pro 2022 will be held tomorrow.

Today the action continued on the world's top surfing circuit and with a slight improvement in conditions the elimination round, men's round of 16 and men's and women's quarter-final rounds were run.



The highlight of the men's elimination round was the participation of Jordy Smith, who with a wide combination of maneuvers achieved the best score of the round with 14.44 pts.

The elimination round also resulted in the loss of Salvadoran Bryan Pérez and Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz, who, against an Australian and an American respectively, failed to overcome their series and leave the competition in 17th place.

“It was a great experience, I’m happy to have surfed the waves of El Salvador, they are doing an excellent job and are sowing the seeds for new generations with good development and education,” said Carlos Muñoz.

The excitement and the highest level of surfing continued, and in the last series of the elimination round, Connor O'Leary managed in the final minutes of the heat to turn the results around and overcome the Brazilian Samuel Pupo.


Next came the men's round of 16, featuring a very high level of surfing, where Jack Robinson, Gabriel Medina, Kanoa Igarashi, Griffin Colapinto, Filipe Toledo, Callum Robson, Ethan Ewing, and ĂŤtalo Ferreira advanced to the quarterfinals, which would be played in the afternoon.

Later, it was the girls' turn in the quarterfinals and Johanne Defay, Lakey Peterson, Caroline Marks and Stephanie Gilmore made it to the semifinals of this seventh CT stop.

“I’m very happy with my performance, the waves were great, it was a really good heat I surfed against Sally. Now I’m going to rest, I’m really tired but tomorrow I hope the conditions stay the same at the right tide and I can enjoy it,” Johanne Defay told Surfing Republica.

Finally, the long day of competition concluded with the men's quarterfinals, where the excitement reached its peak. In the first heat, Brazilian Gabriel Medina defeated Jack Robinson and advanced to the semifinals.

In the second heat, Griffin Colapinto and Kanoa Igarashi faced off, with the American displaying great surfing and overcoming the Japanese surfer to join Medina in the semifinals of the Surf City El Salvador Pro 2022.


Next up was the current world tour leader, Filipe Toledo, who demonstrated with a powerful surfing performance why he's number one in the rankings. Toledo faced Australian Callum Robson, who couldn't overcome the Brazilian's strong combination of 16.67 points.

In the last series of day two of competition were the Brazilian ĂŤtalo Ferreira and Ethan Ewing. The series was exciting from the beginning, however, one of the two had to advance and the South American would manage to join the semifinals of the seventh date of the world tour.
