Surfing Republica - PASA Games Panama 2022 defined its new champions and rankings for Santiago 2023

Brazil and Peru dominated the Pan American Games, and Panama won the silver medal in the men's open.
Six days of excitement reached their peak this weekend with the Open (shortboard) categories finals of the PASA Games Panama 2022, the fifteenth edition of the Pan American Surfing Games of the Pan American Surfing Association (PASA).
From Wednesday, August 10th, until this past Saturday, August 13th, each day has crowned Pan American champions in the individual categories SUP Racing, SUP Surf, Longboard and Open, both for men and women.

Each of these individual divisions added points to the overall standings, in which Brazil took the top spot and the title of Champions of the Americas 2022, with 15,195 points, thanks to the gold medals won by Mateus Sena and Sophia Medina in the Open (shortboard) men's and women's categories.
Peru finished second in the ranking with 12017 points, Argentina came in third with 11055 points, and Mexico finished fourth with 9285 points.

The first individual final on the last day of competition was the Women's Open, where Sophia Medina was crowned as the 2022 Pan American Women's Open Champion.
Medina scored a total of 12.57 points in the grand final against 12.07 from Laura Raupp, also from Brazil, to take the silver medal.
The bronze medal was won by Dominic Barona of Ecuador with 10.70 points and the copper medal was won by Daniella Rosas of Peru with 10.03 points.
In the Men's Open category, the gold medal and new Pan American Champion is Mateus Sena from Brazil, who scored a total of 13.76 points in the grand final.

Jean Carlos González of Panama won the silver medal with a score of 13.40 points.
The bronze medal went to Lucca Mesinas of Peru with 13.37 points.
Miguel Tudela, also from Peru, won the bronze medal with a total of 12.03 points.
“On behalf of the Pan American Surfing Association, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Government and people of Panama, the Panama Tourism Authority, Pandeportes, and the Panamanian Surfing Association for all their support in organizing this event,” stated the event organizers.
