The 2022 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship will be attended by the best national teams, and some of them have already announced the athletes who will be competing for medals. Among these nations are the United States, Australia, Japan, and others, who will bring established figures in their categories and are seen as the future of world surfing.

2022 is a very important year for El Salvador, as it will not only host a Junior World Surfing Championship, but also a stop on the World Surf League (WSL) tour, where the world's best surfers compete. It was also announced that the Central American country will host the 2023 World Surfing Games in the open category, which will serve as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
