Great exponents of Latin American surfing have shown up for the first stop of the ALAS Pro Tour.
Tomorrow, Friday, July 15, the first event of the ALAS Pro Tour will begin, and on the beautiful and busy beach of Jacó, the best Latin surfers will seek to start off on the right foot a tour that will award 1 male and 1 female place for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The competition will feature one star for men and two stars for women, with a total prize pool of $7,000. It will take place in front of the Selina Jacó facilities, and a large crowd is expected to witness the best surfing in the region.

"Costa Rica is a country I love; its people make me feel at home. I have so many friends there who are like family, which makes the place even more special. Starting the ALAS Pro Tour there is a great opportunity to stay focused on the competition. The level of competition is going to be very high, and I think that..."
"All the girls who go are already champions, since there is a lot of effort behind each athlete," said Dominic Barona from Ecuador.
With a total of 74 competitors from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela, the start of the Costa Rica ALAS Pro is currently planned.

The tournament itself will be enlivened by DJ Enso and the date will be full of surfing, good vibes and great special activities, where the anniversary of the Tsunami Sushi restaurant chain will also be celebrated.
"These ALAS tournaments are very important events for me, since we can compete and see surfers from the region again that we haven't seen in a long time. The idea is to unite Latin America, and that's great. Plus, there's a chance to win a spot at Santiago 2023, so that's extra motivation. The fact that it's being held in Costa Rica is great because it's close to El Salvador, and I feel comfortable surfing in this neighboring country with its incredible vibe," added Bryan Pérez.
On Saturday there will be an international concert with the groups Gondwana and Los Pericos, in addition to the presentation of the national band Mekatelyu and a special show by the national DJs Selecta Herbalist, DJ Richard and DJ Chris.
But as if that weren't enough, there will be a fashion show with the bikini brand Camelo, in addition to a grand closing awards ceremony for the tournament on the concert stage.
The event is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 9:00 am on the beach and will continue until the afternoon, with favorable conditions of 4 to 6 feet expected.
This will be the schedule and competition timetable for the first day of competition:
