Surfing Republica - Leilani McGonagle and Carlos Muñoz will face the sixth Challenger stop in Brazil



Ticos will face the penultimate date of the WSL Challenger Series calendar.

Tomorrow, November 1st, the sixth and penultimate Challenger stop of the 2022 World Surf League season will kick off in Brazil, and Costa Rica will be present with two competitors in both the female and male categories.


In the women's category, Leilani McGonagle will be the national representative tasked with trying to accumulate as many points as possible in the penultimate opportunity she will have to improve her qualifying ranking, where she currently sits in 27th place with 6,620 points.


In the men's category, Carlos Muñoz will be the surfer representing Costa Rica in Brazil. The Costa Rican surfer has been improving his performance after recovering from a shoulder injury. Muñoz is currently ranked 102nd in the Challenger rankings; however, he has only competed in two Challenger events and could significantly improve his ranking with strong performances in Brazil and Hawaii.
