Surfing Republica- Leilani McGonagle competirá en la tercera prueba Challenger en Sudáfrica

Surfing Republica - Leilani McGonagle will compete in the third Challenger event in South Africa

McGonagle will be looking to score as many points as possible on a wave that has a very positive history for the national surfer.

This coming Sunday, July 3rd (Saturday, July 2nd for Costa Rica), the third Challenger stop of the World Surf League (WSL) will begin in Ballito, South Africa, where our country will be represented by Costa Rican Leilani McGonagle.

This date will be crucial for the national team's hopes of securing a spot on the Championship Tour. Currently, Leilani is ranked 29th with 2,500 points and will need to improve her position by the end of the season to reach the top five, which grants direct entry to the top surfing league.

McGonagle will try to match or improve on his last two results in Ballito, where he achieved a second place in 2019 and a third place in 2018, both QS events.

KwaZulu-Natal is a place that suits the national surfer well, and she could be accompanied by her compatriot Brisa Hennessy, who is also already in South Africa, to compete in the next CT event. However, at the moment it is unknown if she will compete in this Challenger event, since the organization has not yet provided the details of the surfers who will run the event.

In the coming days we will inform you of all the details of the Costa Rican's rivals, the exact time of the competition and the live broadcast.
