Surfing Republica- Joao Chianca y Caitlin Simmers ganan la tercera parada CT en Portugal

Surfing Republica - Joao Chianca and Caitlin Simmers win the third CT stop in Portugal

For both surfers, this is their first time winning a WSL CT event.

In the waves of Peniche, Portugal, surfers Joao Chianca (BRA) and Caitlin Simmers (USA) triumphed for the first time in a CT event.

Both surfers displayed a very high level of skill throughout the event and undoubtedly conquered the powerful waves of Peniche.

Chianca beat the current tour leader, Australian Jack Robinson, in the final, who despite combining 15.14 points failed to surpass the Brazilian's 17.57 points.

Simmers, meanwhile, faced a very close final against fellow American Courtney Conlogue. Caitlin, who is only 17 years old, took 6 waves in the final and managed to find 2 of them with scores of 7.17 + 6.33 that combined for a total of 13.50 points, enough to surpass Conlogue's 12.83.

Brisa Hennessy and Carlos Muñoz finished the event in 9th and 17th place, respectively. With these results, Brisa now sits in 8th place in the rankings, while Carlos is in 27th.

The next event will be in Australia with the Bells Beach Pro, which will take place from April 4th to 14th.
