Australians dominated the finals against Hawaiian rivals and Brisa Hennessy returns to the top of the women's rankings.
This event determined which surfers would continue in CT competitions for the second half of the year and, consequently, the 2023 season. It also altered the top of the women's rankings and the cutoff for the finals. Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy once again dominates the women's category, while Filipe Toledo remains the men's leader.

The last day of competition brought waves of a significant size, but as the hours passed the size decreased slightly.
The four finalists displayed a high level throughout the tournament and demonstrated why they are top-level surfers.

Australian Isabella Nichols triumphed on the powerful waves of Margaret River, securing her place on the world tour for the second half of the year and the 2023 season. Hawaiian Gabriela Bryan took second place, also securing her spot on the CT a few days prior.
John John Florence and Jack Robinson were the male finalists, two athletes with very varied surfing styles and a wide range of maneuvers. However, John John's experience on the tour might have given him a slight advantage, as he boasts the highest win percentage at Margaret River (85%, according to Stab Magazine). But numbers don't win heats; surfers do, and their determination to fight for victory is what matters. That's precisely what the Australian did. Being in his beloved Australia, he was determined to make it count, and he did. Although John John displayed a high level of skill at the end of the heat, Jack ultimately emerged as the tournament's overall winner.
The next stop on the world tour will take place from May 28 to June 6 in G-Land, Banyuwangi, Indonesia, and will host the best of world surfing.
