Surfing Republica - Hermano de Kanoa Igarashi se encuentra entrenando en Costa Rica

Surfing Republica - Kanoa Igarashi's brother is currently training in Costa Rica

Darshan Antequera shares the waves of the Central Pacific with Keanu Igarashi in Costa Rica.

Keanu, brother of CT surfer Kanoa Igarashi, is enjoying the waves of the Central Pacific with his friend, local surfer Darshan Antequera, making the most of the American's visit.

Igarashi and Antequera shared a little more about their visit and some other details about what they thought of the Costa Rican atmosphere and treatment.

Keanu Igarashi:

How have you felt in Costa Rica?

Costa Rica has always been that dream surfing destination where renowned surfers come and enjoy their time, so being here is absolutely incredible.

How long have you known Darshan and where did you meet him?

I believe I met Darshan about 4 or 5 years ago in my hometown of Huntington, we competed together and continue to do so to this day.

What did you think of the waves in Costa Rica?

Powerful, much stronger than California, I love going surfing at Playa Hermosa and then having a coconut.

Have you been to Costa Rica before?

Yes, this is my third time here, and Costa Rica still impresses me more each time. I've been to Pavones and Marbella.

What did you think of how people treated you?

The best way to describe Costa Ricans is ¡Pura vida! They treat me so well and I just want them to feel the way they make me feel.

What typical Costa Rican foods have you tried?

Gallo pinto, without a doubt, pinto is my 100% favorite, but I could also say that a little chicken, plantains and beans is seriously amazing.

Darshan Antequera:

How do you get along with Keanu?

I get along really well with him and his family; he's like a brother to me.

What do you think was the key to getting along so well with a CT's brother?

I don't think there was a key, rather I think I didn't have a plan or anything, I was just myself and we've always gotten along very well.

What are your plans for the rest of this year and next year?

For the rest of the year I have a QS in Santa Cruz and three more ALAS.

Both surfers will be giving an “expression session” this Sunday starting at 2:00 pm in front of Anita Street, Jacó Beach.
