Surfing Republica - Darshan Antequera is the new leader of the ALAS Pro Tour

Costa Rican leads the ranking with two third-place finishes.

Local surfer Darshan Antequera, from Jacó beach, achieved his second third-place finish of the season at Punta Rocas, Peru, this past weekend. This earned Darshan 730 more points for his ranking, which, combined with the 730 points he earned at the first event in Costa Rica, brings his total to 1460 points, placing him in first position in the standings.

The leader after the first date was the Salvadoran Bryan Pérez, however, Bryan did not manage to attend the South American country and add more points, in addition to the 1,000 points he had collected after winning in Playa Jacó and thus he gave up the first place.

The ALAS Pro Tour has a four-star event scheduled for Playa Caracas, Venezuela; however, it is tentative and will depend on the organizers whether it can be finalized.

This 2022, the ALAS tour is of vital importance for Olympic aspirations, as it will award the overall female and male champion places to directly attend the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and fight for a place for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
