Surfing Republica - Brisa Hennessy y Leilani McGonagle correrán la primera fecha challenger de la WSL en Australia

Surfing Republica - Brisa Hennessy and Leilani McGonagle will compete in the first WSL challenger event in Australia

Hennessy already has his spot secured in the CT 2023, while McGonagle will be looking for his first entry into the top circuit.

In what will be the first challenger event for the national team in 2022, the waiting period for the Gold Coast Pro will officially begin tomorrow in Queensland, Australia.

Both Brisa and Leilani will be looking to perform at their best and make Costa Rica proud. McGonagle's goal is to accumulate as many points as possible to get the Challenger Tour season off to a strong start, while Hennessy will take advantage of her time on the Australian island and try to maintain her competitive edge on the Gold Coast to prepare for the next CT event at the end of May in Indonesia.

Leilani will be the first to compete in the event, and in the fourth heat she will face Hawaiian Luana Silva, South African Zoë Steyn, and German Rachel Presti. Hennessy will compete in the eighth heat, facing Portuguese Francisca Veselk, Indonesian Kailani Johnson, and Australian Sierra Kerr.

This first Challenger event of 2022 features internationally renowned surfers, such as Johanne Defay, Sally Fitzgibbons, Tyler Wright, among others, some to maintain their competitive rhythm and others seeking to return to the world tour, since this year they have been left out of the top circuit.
