Surfing Republica - The action has begun at the Surf City El Salvador Pro 2022


Punta Roca improved its waves and began to write the history of the best surfing in the world in El Salvador.

Today saw the opening rounds of the Surf City El Salvador Pro 2022 and the women's elimination round. The first to compete on the beautiful, perfect right-hand wave at Punta Roca were the women.

Gabriela Bryan, who was in the first heat of the event, became the first CT surfer in history to catch a wave at a World Tour event in El Salvador. The heat was won by Lakey Peterson, who advances to the quarterfinals, while Tatiana Weston Webb and Gabriela Bryan will compete in the elimination round.

“I felt really good in the heat, it’s good to be at this event and on this wave, I managed to catch a couple of waves and I felt really good,” said Lakey Peterson after his heat.


In the second heat of the day, Courtney Conlogue managed to overcome the current tour leader Carissa Moore, with a combination of 11.13 pts, Tia Blanco finished third in the heat.

In the third heat, Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy faced Australian Isabella Nichols and American Caroline Marks, who was making her return to the world tour after an injury. Nichols advanced in first place, while Marks and Hennessy had to face each other in the elimination round.

In the final heat of the women's opening round, it was Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, and Johanne Defay's turn. All three put on a display of excellent surfing; however, Sally Fitzgibbons managed to prevail.  to their rivals and advance to the quarterfinals.
