The champions of the first stop of Costa Rican SUP were determined.

In a warm atmosphere and with nearly 30 athletes, many of them willing to give more than they bring in their strategies, the competition arrived, along with surprises and new talents.

The event began with the Elite Women's category (6 km), where Flavia Fernández took first place, closely followed by Ingrid Trejos, who took second place.

In the Elite Men's category (6km) it was a rowing battle on the water leaving nothing to chance, with our world champion Carlo Arias taking first place, followed by Tony Fisher and Marcel Oliveira finishing in third.

Next up was the Touring category, where Antonio de Armas took first place, followed by Rodolfo Bustos in second place and Geronimo Ciutti came in third with great merit.

Later on, it was the turn of athletes who are gradually joining this sport, we are talking about the Recreational category, in which the athlete Fabián Rojas took first place, followed by César Pereda.

In the Prone category, national athlete Mar Chen Pérez has dedicated himself to promoting the category in which he has already competed internationally and is currently ranked #11 in the world. For this first event of 2023, Pérez motivated and supported two new competitors: Paola Umaña, who achieved second place, and Ana Casin, who finished third. Benjamin Samuel Lopez took first place in the category.

In the men's Open Sprint category, the winners were Tony Fisher in first place, Felipe Fernández in second, and Sebastián Fumero in third. In the women's Open Sprint, the top three finishers were Ingrid Trejos, Flavia Fernández, and Carly McDougal.

The second date will take place next February, also in the Sprint and Technical categories, this time in "Místico", in Playa Hermosa de Garabito.
