Surfing Costa Rica - Ticos continúan a buen ritmo en el segundo día de fecha latinoamericana de surf

Surfing Costa Rica - Costa Ricans continue at a good pace on the second day of the Latin American surf competition

La Bocana welcomes Surf City with good waves, which will decide the 2020 Latin champions.

The action continues at the Surf City ALAS Tour 2020 and on the second day of action, the national representatives sought to add the most competitors in the fourth round of the men's and quarter-finals of the women's.

Today's competition began with Leilani McGonagle, who ran her first heat of the event, as yesterday's race had been postponed to Friday's better conditions. The local rider from Pavones secured a solid first position and returned to the track later that day, finishing second in her heat and advancing to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Coral Wiggins unfortunately fell in the second round.

In the men's competition, two rounds were scheduled for today, and in a second round packed with series featuring Costa Ricans, five athletes were eliminated, while seven nationals made it to the third phase of Surf City.

Once in the third round, the responsibility of continuing to advance in the event on behalf of our country would fall on the shoulders of Alberto Muñoz, Tiago Carrique, Carlos Muñoz, Óscar Urbina, Jason Torres, León Glatzer, and Aarón Álvarez. Of these, only Alberto Muñoz failed to overcome a rather difficult series against El Salvador's Porfirio Miranda and Peru's Lucca Mesinas.

In the fourth round, a new Costa Rican will join, namely Noe Mar McGonagle from Pavones, who, due to his ranking, is seeded in this phase of the Surf City Alas Tour 2020.

One fact to highlight on this second day of competition and in the event in general, is the great level of Aarón Álvarez who, despite his little international experience, is already in the fourth round of the Latin date.

The action continues tomorrow in La Bocana, El Salvador, and it will be a crucial day to define the final rounds for Sunday and crown the new Latin champion.
