Surfing Costa Rica - Surfista costarricense regresa a las competencias del tour mundial

Surfing Costa Rica - Costa Rican surfer returns to world tour competitions

CT returns to action in December with some very striking changes.

After a waiting period for competitions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, during which some structural changes were made to the tour calendar, as well as how the champions will be crowned, the CT competitions return at the end of this year.

The season will now begin in December on the island of Hawaii and will conclude by defining the world title in Lower Trestles, United States in September 2021, a decision that brought good and not so good impressions from some surfers and experts of the discipline.

The “regular season” will now run from December to August, then close with the WSL Finals in September, in which the top five men and top five women in the world (based on their year-end ratings) will compete for the world title in a one-day surf-off, with the winner taking all.

Our country will be present again at the CT this season and the talented young Brisa Hennessy will have the opportunity to put Costa Rica's name at the top.

The first stop on the tour visits the Hawaiian island with the Maui Pro in Honolua Bay, a place where Hennessy has already had the opportunity to challenge its waves and this year hopes to put on a great performance.

“ After much anticipation, the WCT is back, and it’s so special that it’s starting in beautiful Honolula Bay, Hawaii. These past few months have been nothing short of a whirlwind of emotions and changes. I feel so grateful to everyone involved for making this happen with the right precautions and steps.”
“Stay tuned for December 4th! ” Brisa posted on her Instagram account.

The 2020 season of the world surfing tour had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, where the national surfer finished in 11th place in the ranking. Now, the Costa Rican surfer wants to maintain her competitive rhythm in this new season that starts from December 4 to 15 in order to reach the best level for the Tokyo Olympics.

What do you think will be the result that the Costa Rican will obtain in this first event?
