The opening hours of the Playa Hermosa - Punta Mala Wildlife Reserve will need to return to their original schedule.

Today, the Ministry of Health, represented by the Garabito Health Area, announced the opening hours of the Playa Hermosa - Punta Mala Wildlife Reserve.

The schedule approved by the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) was initially from 5:00 am to 8:00 am from Monday to Friday; however, in the third phase of the State of Emergency and with the opening of the other National Parks, some schedules were modified, with the Playa Hermosa - Punta Mala Wildlife Reserve's schedule being extended until 5:00 pm and on weekends, a situation that was taken positively for the support of the economy that has been so affected in the area.

Although the opening was authorized by the responsible entity, the notification to the Public Force and Municipal Department was never given by the Department of Health, for reasons unknown to us.

Based on the protocols, the Garabito Health Area reported through a statement that the schedule for the Central Pacific reserve will be the one initially applied, that is, from 5:00 am to 8:00 am from Monday to Friday.

The current president of the Costa Rican Surfing Federation, Randall Cheves, shared his perspective with Surfing Republica, stating the following:

“We urge surfers once again to follow the schedules established by the Ministry of Health. We hope the general reopening will happen soon, which has been indicated as potentially July 11th. We call on surfers and the general public to continue adhering to the schedules and protocols that have been shared on our social media and specialized surf media outlets so that the reopening can proceed gradually.”
