Costa Rican surfer Nataly Bernold could have a chance to represent our country again at the World Surfing Games in El Salvador 2021 and fight for a spot at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
This is thanks to an approach between the athlete and the Costa Rican Surfing Federation to resume competitions with our country.
The Federation made a request several years ago to the International Surfing Association (ISA) for the surfer to be re-elected as a national representative, and now with the Olympic process, this request is being taken into consideration.
“On behalf of the Federation, we are very pleased that the International Surfing Association (ISA) has again considered the request that was made 4 or 5 years ago, in which we requested the possibility of Nataly representing Costa Rica again. This will make the pre-selection more competitive, and the idea is to bring a well-formed team and seek a new Olympic spot,” said Randall Chaves, president of the Costa Rican Surfing Federation.
According to Chaves, the response to this request should be given this coming Monday.
“I am so happy to represent Costa Rica again, we are just waiting for the approval document and I will be in training giving my best, hoping to be considered to be part of the team,” the athlete mentioned.
