Surfing Costa Rica - Malakai Martinez is the new team rider for Surfing Republica

Guanacaste surfer Malakai Martinez is the newest member of the Surfing Republica team and joins the family made up of Jair Perez Quiros, Leonidas Ruaro, Danny Bishko and Mar Chen.

The idea to sponsor MartĂnez comes from the athlete's potential and a desire to provide greater support to national surfers.

“Malakai is now a brand ambassador and will receive all the merchandise and clothing we have available. He will also be supported with LifeMiles through Surfing Republica, enabling him to take several trips, whether for QS competitions or surf trips to produce videos. The idea is to give more opportunities to national surfers, as the goal isn't just to stop with Malakai, but to find others and accompany them to competitions, documenting and producing videos of these trips. This way, people can see how difficult it is to compete and also the positive aspects of traveling, competing, and surfing different waves,” stated Marco Montero, General Manager of the brand.

MartĂnez is very happy about this news and demonstrated great things on his first trip as a brand ambassador, which took place in El Salvador.

“I’m incredibly happy to be part of the team, and although it took me by surprise, since I wasn’t planning on working with brands because after ending my relationship with my previous sponsor about a year ago, I decided not to work with any, Surfing Republica, through Marco Montero, brought this opportunity to my attention, and I made the decision. They can offer me things that a regular brand couldn’t, like producing videos and doing things for television. Overall, I see this sponsorship as very positive. I plan to grow as much as possible with content and other projects that we’ve already worked on, such as creating my own clothing line, which I’ve always wanted to do. We had a fantastic time in El Salvador; I caught some great waves with a lot of potential, and it was well worth it. I hope to do it again soon, since I have many friends in that country, and it’s amazing,” the athlete stated.

With this addition, the Surfing Republica family continues to grow and hopes to continue doing so by supporting future stars and established athletes, thus making a greater contribution to Costa Rican surfing.
