Surfing Costa Rica - Liga Mundial de Surf pospone todos sus eventos hasta julio y la obtención del título mundial 2020 continúa en duda

Surfing Costa Rica - The World Surf League postpones all its events until July and the 2020 world title remains in doubt

The 2020 world surfing title could be left in doubt.

The World Surf League (WSL) announced this week the extension of the wait for surfing events due to the situation the whole world is going through.

The organization responsible for setting world surfing dates with the top surfers on the planet announced through its social media that it will extend the waiting time until at least the beginning of July.

Currently, only the first date of the World Championship Tour in Gold Coast, Australia, remains cancelled on their official website, while the following four dates, two in Australia, one in Indonesia and one in Brazil, are postponed and awaiting further news.

Previously, former world surfing champion Mick Fanning had spoken about obtaining the world title, suggesting that seven CT stops could determine a champion; however, as the months continue to pass, more events could be postponed or canceled.

Regarding the Qualifying Series (QS) events, thirteen men's and eleven women's events have already been postponed. As for the Challenger dates, a new format proposed by the WSL for this year, only one stop has been postponed for both men and women, and we will have to wait until early July for the organization's next announcement.
