Evento would return in 2022 with a new three-year agreement.

The World Surf League (WSL) today announced the cancellation of the 2021 CT event at Bells Beach. However, it also announced that the Championship Tour (CT) will return to Bells Beach in 2022, thanks to a new three-year agreement signed between the WSL and its partners with the event's sponsoring brand and the Victorian government.
The agreement secures this iconic event for the future and confirms that any WSL world title contender will have to surf the notorious Bells bowl if they have any chance of becoming world champion, and that the coveted bell will ring for many Easters to come.

The organization made the decision to cancel the event this year after a pre-approved bubble could not be secured in Victoria prior to the event, leaving a significant risk associated with sudden public gatherings and COVID-19-related health measures such as lockdowns, state border restrictions, and event cancellations. The WSL respects and understands the Victorian government's decision during these challenging times.
The WSL sincerely thanks the Victorian government and the local community for their understanding of the cancellation of the 2021 event and their commitment over the next three years to supporting one of surfing's most special events.

The World League is working closely with Australian state governments and continues discussions regarding locations for the next Australian leg of the Championship Tour (CT).
Several options are currently being discussed to better prepare for the CT to resume operations, and more information will be provided in the coming days.
All tour stops and dates are subject to change due to applicable COVID-19 related restrictions, including global travel restrictions.
