Surfing Costa Rica - La Bomba: the wave that celebrates wipeouts

The swell brought waves to "The Wedge", California's most dangerous shorebreak.
A wave that forms just a few meters from the shore and breaks at that magnitude with a correct swell, like the one that entered The Wedge this week, in Newport Beach, in Orange County (California).
“La Bomba” was the nickname given to the pier's breaking waves that many dare to challenge but few can tame in the right way.

The swell forecast predicted quite large waves and although they weren't quite as expected, the size didn't disappoint and barrels, as well as wipeouts, were commonplace.

From local bodyboarders and surfers to extreme professional surfers like Jamie O'Brien, they didn't miss the opportunity to challenge the dangerous waves of the pier.

The unique feature of the wave is notably where it forms, which is only a few meters from the shore; however, the speed with which the break rises and the violence with which it closes leaves no room for error for those who dare to challenge it.
