Women's surfing makes history on the CT.

On a historic day that will undoubtedly remain in the memory of surf lovers worldwide, Pipeline did not disappoint and offered conditions that made the first woman a winner on an iconic wave of the Hawaiian island.
The female surfers defied the entire history of CT surfing; however, in a slow but highly strategic final, Tyler Wright overcame the powerful Carissa Moore.
Both waited in the final for waves of good potential in search of making the most of the tubular nature of this Banzaii wave, but it was Wright who decided to change strategy, going for waves with maneuvers and achieved victory.
In the men's side, Hawaiian John John Florence faced Brazilian Gabriel Medina in the final, and in search of a victory on his native island, Florence did not start the series as he expected and had to turn around a fast combination of waves from Medina at the Pipe Master.
John John managed to find and take advantage of non-priority waves and conquer a victory in a "spot" that he wanted to dominate completely, a situation that was the case in this event, since in the semifinals he also managed to overcome the experienced Kelly Slater.
The World Tour will stay on the island of Hawaii to face the second date of the tour at Sunset Beach, between January 19 and 28.
