Surfing Costa Rica - Can you imagine surfing in the Alps?

The artificial wave complex is expected to open in April of this year.

Thinking a few years ago that being in a place near the Alps and being able to surf was a very far-fetched idea, and the reasons are obvious, since with average altitudes of 1700 meters above sea level and peaks that exceed 4000 meters above sea level, the Alps are not a recognized place for this type of sport.

However, surfing is a sport that is growing more and more every day, and taking it to extreme places are perfect ideas for companies that create artificial waves through various mechanisms.

One of these ideas emerged in 2019, when a project was started in the Alps to have quality artificial waves, where surf lovers could live a unique experience.

A complex called Alaïa Bay with an 8,500 m2 swimming pool will be Wavegarden's newest project and will be available in April 2021.

The venue will have around 20 types of waves and will generate a total of 1,000 waves per hour, a very encouraging number for surf lovers from continental Europe and the entire world.

The unique location will feature 300 square meters of retail space, as well as a restaurant and surf school. The opening is strategically planned so that beginners, professionals, families, and anyone else who wishes can enjoy this new artificial wave pool nestled in the heart of the Alps during springtime, with snow-capped mountains in the background and landscapes straight out of a science fiction film.
