The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) clarified that lodging businesses can operate under the new restrictions announced last Friday by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The only hotels unable to operate are those located in districts or cantons under orange alert.
Domestic tourists with reservations can travel in their vehicles, despite the vehicle restriction, as long as they present the document proving it to the traffic authorities when required.
The districts under orange alert are the following: Peñas Blancas (San Ramón), Los Chiles (Los Chiles), Fortuna (San Carlos), Paquera (Puntarenas).
The four cantons under orange alert are: Upala, PococÃ, Alajuelita and Desamparados.
Restaurants located in hotels may also operate to provide food to their guests.
The hours for visiting the beaches remain Monday through Friday, 5:00 am to 8:00 am. Any excursion scheduled to begin on a Saturday or Sunday is suspended.
To return to their homes, domestic tourists will be able to travel at any time by showing the reservation from the place they are coming from.
