Brown successfully underwent surgery to treat a fractured tibia and fibula suffered last Sunday.
Today, four-time national surfing champion Gilbert Brown was hospitalized for surgery on a fractured tibia and fibula at a medical center in the capital.
The Caribbean athlete was treated by sports injury specialists Luis Eladio Fernández González and Rafael Zamora López, along with anesthesiologist Dr. Roberto RodrÃguez. Before the surgery, the athlete humorously posted on social media, "If this were a tournament, I'd be properly registered."
The surgery went exactly as the specialists planned, and now the athlete will have to remain at rest and recover for a period of time.

On behalf of the entire surfing community of Costa Rica, we are delighted by this very positive news for one of the icons of national surfing for so many years.
