The first WSL competition post-COVID-19 will return with a special event at Surf Ranch.

This coming Sunday, August 9th, the elite of world surfing will return to competition with a tournament at the Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California.

The “Rumble at The Ranch” is part of the calendar of special events organized by the World Surf League (WSL) and will be the first CT competitive event post-COVID-19.

This competition will take place in a unique format, with two initial rounds and a grand final. It will feature 16 of the world's best surfers (8 men and 8 women): Kelly Slater, Caroline Marks, Kolohe Andino, Carissa Moore, Filipe Toledo, Sage Erickson, Coco Ho, Alissa Spencer, Seth Moniz, Kiara Pinkerton, Conner Coffin, Adriano de Souza, Lakey Peterson, Griffin Colapinto, Tatiana Weston-Webb, and Kanoa Igarashi.

Without a doubt, the absent surfers are Gabriel Medina and Ítalo Ferreira, Jordy Smith, John John Florence, Michel Bourez, among some other surfers, however, due to the current situation that is being experienced throughout the world, their attendance is impossible.

The competition format will be as follows:

- Each surfer will have the right to take two left waves and two right waves; to advance, the score of their best two waves (one left and one right) will be taken into account.

There will be no public attendance at Surf Ranch, and it will be the first event called “WSL Countdown” as preparation for the CT 2021. Other commitments are planned in Australia, France, and Portugal between September and October of this year.

This Sunday's competition will be broadcast live on the WSL website and will start at 12 noon, California time.
