Any American tourist will be able to visit our country respecting the entry requirements.
Yesterday it was announced that starting November 1st, our country will allow the entry of all American tourists, meaning that regardless of their residence, visiting Costa Rican soil will be possible.
This decision is based on the country's response to COVID-19 cases since the reopening of airports. Furthermore, the Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Segura, emphasized the goal of supporting economic growth while minimizing the virus's impact.
“This will allow us to reactivate tourism so that businesses can work at least above the break-even point during the high season, which runs from November 2020 to May 2021,” Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura told the media.

However, based on average data, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) is aware that despite the full opening of entry to tourists from the United States, the influx of visitors will be 35% to 40%, compared to previous years.
This figure is based on the entry requirements that will undoubtedly limit visits to the country.
Residents of the United States who wish to visit Costa Rica must meet the following three requirements:
- Complete the digital form called HEALTH PASS, available at https://salud.go.cr
- Take a COVID-19 PCR test and obtain a negative result; the sample for the test must be taken no more than 72 hours before the flight to Costa Rica.
- Mandatory travel insurance that covers accommodation in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID-19. This insurance can be international or purchased from Costa Rican insurance companies.
Furthermore, starting November 1st, it will no longer be necessary to present proof of residence, as all states in the United States will be open for entry.
With this authorization, our country enabled entry from the entire North American part, where entry was already permitted for visitors from Mexico, Canada and now the United States in its entirety.
