As a great reward for his effort throughout the 2019 season, where surfer Carlos Muñoz was never closer to entering the World Tour (CT), the Costa Rican receives the award for best surfer of the year.
“Cali” received this award for the second consecutive year, having previously won in 2018, though that year he shared the prize with Peruvian Miguel Tudela. In 2019, Muñoz won overwhelmingly with 55% of the vote.

The Hispanic American Surf Awards also awarded Carlos the categories of best small wave surfer and best aerial surfer, categories that suit the national well.
In the Ladies category, Costa Rican surfer Brisa Hennessy finished in third place, vying for the title of surfer of the year 2019, a category won by Peruvian Daniella Rosas.
