Surfing Costa Rica - Atletas australianos con proyección viajan a prepararse para el CT gracias al Gobierno

Surfing Costa Rica - Promising Australian athletes travel to prepare for the CT thanks to the Government

Australian government provides training trips to surfers with the potential to enter the CT.

In an attempt to prepare and improve the competitive level of promising athletes seeking a spot on the top surfing circuit, the Australian government is granting trips to surfers with the sole requirement that the trip takes place in a CT destination, that is, a wave that is within the places that the world tour normally visits.

The Government grants the money to Surfing Australia and they distribute it to athletes with a chance of entering the CT and promising young athletes who have notable potential and good national, regional or international results and can be prepared for the future.

Trips can be awarded up to three times for athletes with high potential for the world tour, twice for under 18 surfers, and once for under 16 surfers.

This initiative aims to help athletes surf waves like those surfed during a World Surf League (WSL) CT season, since the waves where they compete during their qualifying rounds can be a little different.

Each nation's budget is different, and the capacity to support each discipline varies according to each country's culture, but what is certain is that the initiative is very interesting and could bring great results.

In our country, various scholarships are awarded to surfers, and there is no doubt that these provide great support to the beneficiaries who know how to take advantage of them.
