Surfing Costa Rica - The first post-pandemic international surf festival has begun

European event seeks to attract tourists as a safe destination.

After an absence of international surfing competitions worldwide, the Pantín Classic Galicia Pro 2020 will kick off tomorrow in the early hours of the morning in Costa Rica.

The commitment had begun on August 15th, with the adapted competitions that took place with great success and under strict health regulations.

However, the main event of the Pantín Classic would be starting with the first call at 8:00 am on August 19th in Spanish time, that is, 12:00 am national time.

The female category is expected to enter the water first, followed by the male category at 12:00 pm (Spanish time).

This could be categorized as the first post-pandemic European international event, as athletes from different regions of Europe have traveled to this Spanish region to compete in the 33rd edition of this highly anticipated event, which this year will be held outside the World Surf League (WSL) QS calendar.

Athletes of the caliber of Johanne Defay (Reunion Island), Joan Durú (France) and Aritz Aranburu (Basque Country), Teresa Bonvalot (Portugal), among others have confirmed their participation this 2020.

Some Costa Ricans, such as Carlos Muñoz , Noe Mar McGonagle , Leilani McGonagle , among others, have competed in this event, however, they will be absent from this edition.

Audience attendance is permitted, however, it is limited to a specific time slot and a specific number of attendees. Anyone wishing to attend the event must complete a form beforehand on the competition website and will receive a code that must be presented at the festival entrance.
