The Costa Rican Surf Federation reiterates that the short notice given by the International Surfing Association regarding the dates of the World Championship makes it impossible for ICODER to receive funds.
The Costa Rican Surfing Federation is pleased to announce the list of selected athletes who will participate in the upcoming International Surfing Association (ISA) Open World Championship, as well as the launch of a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses necessary for their participation.
This event will take place from September 16 to 24 in Huntington Beach, California, USA, and brings together the best of surfing worldwide, with the participation of more than 50 delegations from all over the planet.
The current economic situation at the national level, as well as the short notice with which the 2022 events have been announced by world and regional organizations, have made it impossible to obtain the necessary resources for the participation of the National Teams.
The Federation was required to submit its work plan to ICODER before the end of 2021 in order to process the funding for international competitions. The International Surfing Association announced this World Open as taking place on May 31, 2022.
For this reason, the official national representative body for surfing is calling on surf fans, private companies, and the general public to contribute and make it possible for the tricolor flag to fly at the world's biggest surfing event.
The funds will be used for food expenses, air and ground transportation, insurance, uniforms, per diem, among others, for the team that will be representing us in California.
Donations will be received through the accounts of the Costa Rican Surf Federation and via SINPE Móvil.
