Selección Nacional de Surf viajó hoy a Japón para afrontar el mundial más grande de la historia

The National Surf Team traveled to Japan today to face the biggest world championship in history

Costa Ricans will seek to make a strong showing in a world championship packed with the best surfers in the world.

In what will be the edition with the highest number of countries registered for a World Games in history, plus a large influx of competitors from the CT, this is how our tricolor team will face these games in Japan.

The National Team departed today, and its members will gradually join each other in different parts of the world due to their international commitments.

“The team is going to Japan with all the enthusiasm to achieve a great result. Jim Hogan knows it’s very important to advance as a unit to have a good position next year. We hope to bring joy to the surf fans and those who follow the National Surf Team,” stated Randall Chaves, president of the Costa Rican Surf Federation.

This world championship will take place from September 7th to 15th in Miyazaki, Japan, bringing together 240 athletes seeking a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. National teams from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania will compete to determine who qualifies for the Olympic Games.

The World Cup will be contested with a total of 55 countries, including its debutants: American Samoa, Lebanon, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Our team consists of Carlos Muñoz, Noe Mar McGonagle, and Jair Pérez. Meanwhile, the women's team of Brisa Hennessy, Leilani McGonagle, and Eva Woodland will be aiming for top positions at this important world championship.
