Rubiana Brownell y Leilani McGonagle correrán fecha QS en Chile

Rubiana Brownell and Leilani McGonagle will compete in a QS event in Chile

Cameló Bikinis presents the news of the day.

Rubiana Brownell tells us more about her QS 2019 performances.

The current National Surf Champion Rubiana Brownell will be competing in the last QS stop of this year, the event will be held in the Punta Lobos region of Chile.

The Pichilemu Pro will take place from December 13th to 15th and will also be attended by Costa Rican Leilani McGonagle, who is currently ranked #30 and if she performs well in the event she could be in a better position for next year.

The local player from Playa Avellanas will be participating in her fifth QS performance in 2019.
Brownell has shone brightly at the national level and with a very innovative surfing style has shown that he is destined for great things.

Last year she began her participation in qualifying stops of the World Surf League (WSL) and in this article we talk to the surfer about her participation in the current season.

How have you seen your performance in this year's QS dates?

“Honestly, I don’t feel like I achieved what I wanted in this year’s QS events, but I learned a lot and I’m very excited to have the opportunity to compete again next year.”

Next year, will you be more focused on doing more QS events or competing at the national level?

“Next year I will definitely focus more on the QS dates and spend more time outside the country, consequently I won’t be able to attend many national events.”

What is your next international engagement?

“I’m going to a QS 1500 in Punta de Lobos, Chile next week and then in January there’s a QS in Pismo Beach, CA at the end of January and I plan to compete in that one too.”

What message would you give to the new generations of girls who want to start competing?

"More than anything, I'd say just remember to keep it fun. The moment you start feeling pressure or it becomes stressful, it will only make it harder. Remember what made you fall in love with surfing, and that will keep you on the path to success."

Do you see yourself competing in a World Cup in the future, representing Costa Rica?

“That’s definitely the dream, but for now I’m just taking it one step at a time. Personally, I’d like to represent Costa Rica, because it’s the country I identify with the most. I understand that everyone has different opinions, but regardless of what my passport says, Costa Rica is my home.”
