Costa Rica's beaches will remain closed until further notice

Current measures in response to the COVID-19 situation in Costa Rica.

Following a decrease in the increase of COVID-19 cases in our country, the Ministry of Health and the President of the Republic issued new guidelines today, Monday, to follow in the search for a return to normality.

The measures were taken consciously and with the aim of gradually mitigating the negative economic impact that this pandemic has had on different sectors of our country.

Below are some of the guidelines that have been announced and directly or indirectly affect coastal areas:

• Cinemas, places for practicing or training non-contact sports , gyms and swimming schools may open establishments during the week under certain conditions.

 

• The President of the Republic will issue a directive to the leaders to generate prevention and mitigation protocols that allow the reactivation and continuity of workplaces , activities and services.

 

• Authorities stressed the need to promote teleworking as a priority in service establishments.

 

• Vehicle restrictions will remain unchanged until May 15.

 

• The measures will be gradual and will depend on the behavior of the cases and if necessary restrictions will be implemented again. On May 11, it will be evaluated whether there are more changes.

• Available on weekdays from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm:
a) Cinemas and theaters with seating separation measures of at least 2 meters between each person and electronic ticketing or booking.
b) Establishments for the practice or training of non-contact sports , with a reduction of their maximum normal occupancy capacity to twenty-five percent (25%).
c) Gyms with a reduction of its maximum normal occupancy capacity to twenty-five percent (25%) , with appointment scheduling and differentiated hours for people with risk factors .
d) Swimming schools , with a reduction of their maximum normal occupancy capacity to twenty-five percent ( 25 %).

 

• Weekends are enabled from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm, in addition to the list of exceptions already issued:
a) Beauty salons and barbershops , with a capacity of fifty percent (50% ) according to maximum capacity and only by appointment .
b) Retail sale of parts, pieces and accessories for motor vehicles and motorcycles , with a capacity of fifty percent (50%) according to maximum occupancy capacity
c) Parking lots or car parks .
These guidelines will be applied starting May 1st.

The guidelines mentioned since the beginning of the pandemic in our country, which have not been cited in this new declaration, will remain under the same conditions.
