National athletes will not be able to attend the Lima 2019 Pan American Games due to poor scheduling by PASA.

Once again, the Pan American Surf Association (PASA) organization is disregarding international competition schedules and has decided to hold the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru on dates that coincide with the US Open of Surfing WQS 10,000pts (one of the most important and media-covered events worldwide) and the Super Girl Pro WQS 6,000pts.

Because of this , Leilani McGonagle and Brisa Hennessy They will not be able to attend these Games since these WQS commitments could guarantee their entry and permanence in the WCT 2020 and therefore represent a much greater importance in their sporting careers and professional future, in addition to commitments already acquired with their sponsoring brands.Â
The national team took on the task of collecting signatures and sending letters seeking to change the competition dates for the Surfing modality, but PASA declined the proposal.Â

In the men's category, Noe Mar McGonagle also found himself between a rock and a hard place, but in the end he opted to participate in the Pan American Games and sacrifice his presence at the US Open.Â

Therefore, the National Surf Team that will attend these Pan American Games will not include Leilani and Hennessy and will be made up of: Anthony Fillingim and Noe Mar McGonagle (Surf), Anthony Flores (Longboard) and Valeria Salustri in SUP Race.
