Direct rivals for the "Cali" qualification lose in Hawaii and expand the options of the national team.

Today, no new round will be held in Hawaii due to the surf conditions; however, after almost three rounds of the Hawaiian Pro and observing the good form of Costa Rican Carlos Muñoz, in addition to what happened at the event, good news is beginning to arrive for the national's aspirations.

Carlos is currently ranked 16th in the QS, not counting the points he has earned so far in the Hawaiian event, which could be either 2300 or 2100 points. But in addition to advancing another round, "Cali" would be guaranteed at least 3600 points.


A rather encouraging outlook considering that three of the direct rivals for the national qualification (Matt Banting, Liam O'Briem and Stuart Kennedy) have been eliminated in the commitment, accumulating fewer points than expected.

The local player from Esterillos Oeste is very close to qualifying for the CT 2020, but on the other hand, three of his direct rivals within the rankings (Barron Mamiya, Matthew McGillivray and Morgan Cibilic) also have opportunities to continue adding points at the Hawaiian Pro, meaning we have to wait until the end of round 3 to see how these three performances play out.

Now, another issue to consider is the CT requalifications, which at the moment would only be occupied by Deivid Silva and would open up one more spot in the current QS ranking.

The outlook for the Costa Rican remains encouraging and could be even more so if he continues the level he has shown in Hawaii, taking everything to the final day at Sunset Beach.
