Nuevos campeones fueron coronados en la primera fecha del Circuito Nacional de Surf de Costa Rica.

New champions were crowned at the first date of the Costa Rica National Surf Circuit.

The Costa Rican National Surf Circuit kicked off last weekend at Playa Cocles, Limón, crowning new champions at each event. These champions will compete for the 2024 national championship title in an event where they will be awarded cash prizes and the incentive of being considered for the national surf team, as the national ranking will be taken into account for the selection of Costa Rica's representatives in international events.

Cocles was the first of a total of five dates that make up the calendar organized by the Costa Rican Surf Federation for 2024.

“The Circuit always seeks out the best waves of the summer season, which provides us with a great show so that the athletes can demonstrate their high level and help to revive commerce on the beaches we visit,” explained Randall Chaves, director of the event.

To determine the 2024 national champions, each surfer's four best ranking results will be considered, discarding their lowest-scoring performance. This year, the CNS will feature six categories for both men and women, with the aim of holding tournaments aligned with the Olympic cycle. The categories included are:

  • Open
