Nadav Attar clasifica a Challenger Series 2026

Nadav Attar qualifies for Challenger Series 2026

Israeli-Tico surfer Nadav Attar, a local of Playa Guiones, Nosara, qualified for the World Surf League's 2026 Challenger Series.

We spoke with Nadav about this great news and how he's experiencing this reality.

What does it mean for you to be in the 2026 Challenger Series?

A dream come true. I always knew I would qualify for the CS, but I never thought it would happen now. In my mind, I thought it would be in the next 2 years. If you had told me last year that I would be qualified now, I honestly wouldn't have believed you.

What were you doing when you received the news and how did you take it?

For the past two months, I've been in communication with the WSL. Dane Henry won the World Jr Championships, where I came in second. He received the direct spot to the CS, then he also qualified from his region to the CS (he qualified twice). I knew it was right for me to get Dane's CS spot from the World Jrs—but the WSL kept telling me they had to decide what to do with the spot. Last Friday morning, I got a call from the WSL to confirm my spot for this season, which was very exciting, honestly.

How will your physical, mental, and emotional training routine be now that you have this new challenge ahead?

The routine remains the same. I always have a very full and professional routine here at home with my family and coaches. In June, I will be in Israel training with the Israeli Olympic Committee in preparation for the season. There's also a new wave pool in Tel Aviv, perfect for training before any event.

How will you handle the financial expenses to compete in these tournaments?

The expenses are big, very big actually. I have to ask Leilani what the cheapest way to get to South Africa is, haha. I'm very grateful that I have the support of the Israeli Olympic Committee, as well as brands that believe in me. I'm still looking for a main sponsor; everything in its own time 🙏🏽

Any message for the people of Costa Rica?

Thanks to everyone who has made me feel part of the community here in Costa Rica. I've lived in Nosara since I was 7. Even though I don't represent CR with a flag, I always represent you. Nosara, in particular, opened all doors for me as a surfer. To everyone who has been and continues to be part of my journey, thank you, especially to those who don't criticize me for the country I come from ❤️. Here's to a great year 🥂
