World Surfing Championship in El Salvador postponed due to coronavirus

Sun Bum presents the news of the day.

The International Surfing Association postpones the competition due to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide and in the host country.

Following yesterday's announcement that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will not take place on the scheduled dates, the International Surfing Association (ISA) made the decision together with the Government of El Salvador that the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games will have to wait for the well-being of everyone.

The Games were scheduled to take place from May 9 to 17, however, the Organization has made the decision to postpone the event for the time being and move it to June.

Despite this decision, the ISA will continue to closely monitor developments regarding COVID-19 both globally and in the host country and will issue a final statement on April 20.

Our country will attend the games with a team that will seek Olympic places, with the desire to attend and try to perform well in the best possible health conditions to safeguard the safety of the athletes and others involved.
