Los mejores surfistas del mundo competirán por el orgullo nacional, medallas de oro y clasificación olímpica en los ISA World Surfing Games (WSG) 2024.

The world's best surfers will compete for national pride, gold medals and Olympic qualification at the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games (WSG).

The world's best surfers will compete for national pride, gold medals and Olympic qualification at the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games (WSG), which will take place from February 23 to March 3, 2024.

These are the 6 most important facts you should know about the competition:

1. Last chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

With just a few months to go before surfing makes its second appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the world's best surfers have one last chance to qualify. Of the 266 athletes competing, the top 8 eligible women and the top 6 eligible men will qualify directly for Paris 2024 through the 2024 World Surf League (WSG).

2. The highest-ranked teams will receive additional slots.

In addition to the individual ranking, the highest-ranked women's team and the highest-ranked men's team will receive a place for their nation.

The standard national quota for Paris 2024 is limited to the two highest-ranked eligible athletes per country, but a third surfer is allowed for these top-ranked teams. Following the 2022 WSG results, this system granted a third eligible American woman and a third Japanese surfer for Paris 2024. That same spot is available at the 2024 WSG. Therefore, it is expected that each participating team will bring its best athletes.

3. The best surfers in the world will be in Puerto Rico.

- 9 former ISA gold medalists, including defending champions Alan Cleland Jr (MEX) and Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA).

- 27 of the 40 Olympians who competed in Tokyo 2020, including gold medalist Carissa Moore (USA), silver medalist Kanoa Igarashi (JPN), and bronze medalist Amuro Tsuzuki (JPN), are in Puerto Rico. 27 of the athletes present in Puerto Rico have already qualified for Paris 2024.

- 6 WSL champions: five-time WSL champion Carissa Moore (USA), three-time WSL champion Gabriel Medina (BRA), two-time WSL champion Tyler Wright (AUS), two-time WSL champion John-John Florence (USA), two-time WSL champion Filipe Toledo (BRA) and 2023 WSL champion Caroline Marks (USA).

4. Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

The ISA returns to Puerto Rico's world-class waves and promotes the region's rich surfing history. Having hosted ISA events from 1968 to 2022, Puerto Rico has established itself as an iconic surfing destination.

The competition will take place in the municipality of Arecibo at the world-renowned waves of Margara, El Pico and Rastrial, all of which offer solid waves.

5. The ISA: Continues to push the boundaries.

In 2024, 45% of WSG competitors will be women. Since 2017, the ISA has offered equal competition slots for men and women across its World Championship Series, and each year those slots continue to be filled more equitably.

In addition, two new nations will be represented for the first time. The ISA is pleased to welcome the British Virgin Islands and Slovakia to its first WSG.

5. Schedule
