La nueva etapa de Gilbert Brown como campeón Masters

Gilbert Brown's new chapter as Masters champion

Adrenaline Rush presents the news of the day.

Caribeño is the new Costa Rica Masters champion.

With his sights set on the title, this is how Caribbean surfer Gilbert Brown began this stage in his sporting career in the Masters category.

The 36-year-old from Puerto Viejo de Limón is the current holder of the national record for titles in the open category with four podium finishes and hopes to continue his golden journey as the years go by.

This second year Gilbert started off on the right foot in the Masters category, winning four out of five dates and thus securing his first title in the division.

Brown shared with us a little about what his life has been like now that some things have changed due to age, and here is the interview.

How has this transition from Open to Masters been for you?

Gilbert: It's been a really cool stage, even though this is my second year as a Master.

How is Gilbert Brown preparing now in the Masters category?

Gilbert: The preparation is practically the same, surfing when you can and if there's no work to do, and obviously maintaining physical activity.

What do you consider to be the most difficult aspect of competition in this new stage of your career?

Gilbert: The body weighs more, there is little sponsorship, honestly in this category you compete for the love of the sport and for respect towards all the gentlemen who in one way or another still maintain a high level of surfing.

What did you take away from being the new Masters champion this year?

Gilbert: It was a great year of competition alongside the entire Costa Rican surfing family, I think that's worth more than a title to me right now.
