John John Florence podría dejar fuera de las olimpiadas a Kelly Slater o Conner Coffin

John John Florence could keep Kelly Slater or Conner Coffin out of the Olympics

LifeMiles presents the news of the day.

Americans will fight for a spot at Tokyo 2020 until the last CT tournament of this year.

After undergoing surgery, American John John Florence was supposed to say goodbye to his dream of being part of the first addition of surfing to the Olympic Games.

However, the surgery has progressed very well, and if this pace continues, Florence could be ready for the final CT event at the Pipe Masters. If so, she could aim for a spot among the top three Americans in the rankings and consequently qualify for Tokyo 2020.

The young Hawaiian is currently third in the standings, but his absence in the upcoming CT events could allow Kelly Slater and Conner Coffin, the two surfers with the best chances of catching John John, to overtake him. Therefore, we will have to wait until the final stop at Pipeline to determine the American team, which would be completed by Kolohe Andino, who remains firmly at the top of the Tour of Champions standings.

If John John qualifies for the Olympics and Conner Cofin finishes the season strong, they could leave out the legendary Kelly Slater, a situation that would be a disappointment for many after the Cocoa Beach native's outstanding career.
