Garabito's head of aquatic rescue meets with the Minister of Tourism and the Consul General of the American Embassy to share knowledge about safety on our beaches and tourism.

Last week, Marvin Chen Pérez, head of aquatic rescue and national lifeguards, met with his advisor Marianela Mora, the Minister of Tourism Maria Amalia Revelo and the Consul General of the American Embassy Mary Fisk Telchi, in order to discuss the issue of aquatic rescue on our coasts.

Pérez, accompanied by her advisors, presented important insights to the officials regarding the current situation of the aquatic rescue department in Costa Rica. She also took the opportunity to express, on behalf of all the national lifeguards, why it is crucial to have trained lifeguards with local knowledge along the coasts.

The exchange of criteria served to show the path of processes and legislation to which it should be applied.
“We are very satisfied with the meeting. These people are quite difficult to get together to discuss any topic, and we had the opportunity to share our criteria with them, which they received positively,” said Marvin Chen Pérez.

The meeting served to provide a clear demonstration of the commitment by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the American Embassy in terms of security.
